Welcome to our first attempt at producing a usable GPS map of Menorca. It all started when we (when I say we, I mean my son Matt) discovered that the guys at Garmin only had the Island of Menorca as a small triangle, a little to the north-east of a downloadable map of Majorca.
After a lot of help from the web, we downloaded copies of OziExplorer, GPSMapEdit and gpsmapper. Armed with these and a 1:40,000 paper map of the island, we set out to produce a map to download to our Garmin Vista.
I'd give credit to the producers of the paper map which we bought, but it turned out to be offset by some 50 meters. This has been rectified after overlaying actual tracks and waypoints taken whilst on holiday during the autumn.
The results are shown below and are freely available to download by anyone who wants to try it out. |
